Things linking urban/rural people together. East Coast, USA
Valtris (val-tris) is a long story. We are 'ol' dairy cow people. Moo, milk, and all that stuff. Years ago, we had registered cows and needed a trademark for our genetic product (called a prefix in the dairy industry). We chose Valtris (Val-erie our first daughter, and Tris-ten after Marshall Tristen our son).
We then named our cattle XXXXX of Valtris, and we still name our purebred dogs that way today. This provided an identity for our farm and our cattle when we sold or showed with other cow people.
The tradition of this style of naming animals comes from the rich heritage of draft horses. Their owners would use the same type of conventions years ago. We enjoy carrying on the tradition.
Today we live on the East Coast in the D.C. Area. We still use the basic trademark today for our business activities. Select a button on the left for info about each of us.
